New York City

17 October 2012 | Written by Maxxum

If you've ever lived in New York City, you know that you could be in the city for years and not see everything it has to offer. I've been traveling to and from NYC for 30 years, and unless I dedicate my life to documenting the city, I doubt that I'll ever know what remains to be seen ever after another 30.

On the second night of the con, I explored a small part of the city with friends - if you ever plan on visiting New York, bring a good camera, else you'll kick yourself when you return home with bad photos. The city is drudgery during the day, but it comes alive at night, and it's the reason so many photographers travel to NYC for their professional careers. Any number of moments in a single night could create a full portfolio of art photos.

The photos shown on this page were acquired in roughly 30 minutes of walking time; had it not been so late with another night of the convention looming, I would have let myself be lost to the city. Anyone that is a night owl could live their entire life at night in NYC; aside from working hours, there is almost no difference in the amount of activity as day turns to night - there are only different creatures.

Onward to geekery!
